My husband and I have a mutual friend, Nigel, who worked with my husband in Nigeria many moons ago..
Anyway, we keep in contact from time to time and then a couple of months ago, he contacted us saying that his daughter's boyfriend was on a world wide visit and would I mind showing him around Cape Town.
Needless to say he contacted me on his arrival in Cape Town and we met to discuss what he fancied doing while in town. After 'comparing notes' we discovered we both have a love of bikes and that is why I offered to show him around the Cape Peninsula by motor bike. He has a bike back home so we arranged to meet later in the week for a quick trip around the Peninsula.
I collected him at the station and kitted him up for our days adventure. I was riding my brand new GS12000 Adventure and I loaned him our Suzuki V-strom 650.
First stop was Boulders - as we were doing this site seeing on the run - I said there are a few penquins at the car park - so I could quickly show him those and we could be on our merry way. He was very happy with this idea!
Next stop was Cape Point.
Last time I went, hubby and I stayed behind while the group we were showing around walked up and we jumped on the uni-rail and met them at the top.
This time wasn't so easy! Greg being a fitness freak opted for climbing to the top.. me lugging my camera back with two heavy cameras! It really is better to walk - so much to see. I must say I have never seen as many flowers in the reserve as there are at the moment! Lots of puffing and panting but I got there!
I know its a long way up - but boy is the view worth it at the top. I know I have been there soooh many times - but I love it every time. Most times I see it from the sea - so every so often it is nice to it from above!
The walk down from the lighthouse is so much easier - and well worth a walk down to the various lookout points. The power of the sea below is just incredible and the birds soaring around in the wind are so entertaining.. They really have taken so much trouble with building lookout points. Even though I have been there often before - I always make a turn there again!
